Methodology

RotoGrinders created the World Cup Watch Parties Index to compare how well major U.S. cities are set up for 2026 FIFA World Cup watch parties.

The study looked at 343 U.S. cities with populations above 100,000. Each city was scored out of 100 across four weighted categories, with a higher score meaning a stronger watch party environment.

Bar access - 30%

Higher score = better

Measures how easy it is to find a shared place to watch. This factors in soccer and sports bar availability, adjusted for population, plus official supporter bar locations.

Fan demand - 30%

Higher score = better

Measures the strength of the local soccer audience. This includes international population links to qualified nations, soccer search interest and professional soccer presence.

Watch party activity - 25%

Higher score = better

Measures existing and expected local watch party culture. This factors in soccer watch party listings and confirmed 2026 fan fest or public viewing plans.

Kickoff convenience & affordability - 15%

Higher score = better

Measures how practical match viewing is for fans. This factors in evening-friendly kickoff times and average pint prices, with cheaper cities scoring higher.
